Kyogle is a town in the northern rivers region of northern New South Wales. According to the 2006 Census, Kyogle had a population of 2,731.
The town was settled in 1830 as a lumber camp with Cedar and Hoop Pine being popular production. Kyogle is an Aboriginal word meaning “plains turkey’s (bustard) egg” a reference to the Scrub Turkey which is indigenous to the region.
The town lies on the banks of the Richmond River. Cattle grazing, dairy farming and forestry are the primary industries.
